Motorcycle Safety Guide – What You Need To Know

When it comes to motorcycle safety, it’s important to remember that motorcyclists have the same

rights as any other driver on the road. This month is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and

Hussey Fraser has created this infographic that outlines what motorcyclists need to know in order to

stay safe on the roads. Did you know nearly half of all motorcycle deaths are the result of single-

vehicle crashes? The statistics are even higher for older riders – studies have shown that motorcycle

riders over the age of 60 are three times more likely to be hospitalised after a crash than younger

rider.

Being safe on the roads is fundamental both for you and for other road users. Although motorcycles

might be deemed as ‘’less safe’’ than other vehicles, there are many things motorcyclists (as well as

other road users) can do to keep everyone safe on the road. To begin with, safety always begins with

an adequately trained motorcyclist and a well-maintained motorcycle.

The correct gear is also essential. Gear won’t save you from crashing but wearing the proper helmet,

clothing and accessories will help protect you if you do crash. You can stay safe on your bike if avoid

risks and are prepared, so that, if an accident occurs, you will know what to do. Some bike lovers

enjoy an entire lifetime without getting a bike injury however most are not as lucky. Let’s check out

this infographic and learn how we can stay safe on our bikes!
